2-Piece Floating Ball Valve
Size Range: 1/2"–12" (DN15–DN300)The Bettis RPX is an actuated ball valve package: a stainless steel, flanged quarter-turn ball valve with an RPX actuator mounted on top, so the valve can be opened and closed from a control system rather than by hand. It is listed in sizes NPS 1/2 to 8 (DN 15 to 200) with ANSI Class 150 flanged end connections, which makes it a fit for low-pressure process lines where automated on/off service is needed.
A ball valve controls flow by rotating a bored ball through 90 degrees. When the bore lines up with the pipe the valve is open; a quarter turn closes it against the seats. Because the movement is short and repeatable, ball valves pair well with actuators for remote isolation, batching and interlocked shut-off. Stainless steel bodies are commonly chosen where the process fluid, washdown or the surrounding atmosphere would attack carbon steel.
When specifying an actuated valve, the valve and the actuator need to be selected together. Confirm the line size and flange standard, the process fluid and temperature, the air or power supply available on site, and whether the valve must fail open, fail closed or stay in its last position when the supply is lost. Accessories such as solenoid valves and limit switches should be agreed at the same time.
